GHS AP and Pre AP Information
Gainesville High School offers pre advanced placement and advanced placement classes in English/language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and languages. Dual credit courses are offered in conjunction with North Central Texas College. Students may enroll in and received credit in dual credit courses if they are approved by the counselor. Most of the dual credit courses are taught on the NCTC campus with students providing their own transportation to and from the college campus.
Dual Credit Information:
1. The high school student must apply to NCTC and be admitted to the college, the same as any other college student. The students will pay college fees (not tuition) only and purchase the required books for the courses.
2. High school students must take and pass the TASP before taking dual credit courses.
3. The student will have to follow NCTC procedures for requesting transcripts of college credit and must remember that the dual credit classes will become part of their permanent college record. NCTC classes may not be dropped after classes start to enroll into that class at GHS. Any student who plans to enroll in a college class and does not, is subject to the GHS absentee policy.4. All dual credit grades will be placed on the high school transcript.
5. Students will receive weighted ranking points for the college courses.
6. Students enrolled in dual credit classes must be enrolled in four periods at GHS.
7. Dual credit courses can be taken during the fall, spring or summer at NCTC.
