Events & Announcements

	Family Reading Night Edison parents and students enjoyed the 6th annual library Family Reading Night Thurday evening March 13. Students and their families read together, did reading activities together and visited with The Cat in The Hat. Each student received a free book for attending.

Where's the Fire??? Edison was given a safety program by local firefighters. Students learned not to be afraid of firefighters when the firefighters enter their house wearing their bunker gear. Students also learned Stop, Drop and Roll. Students all received fire badges, coloring books with the Gainesville Fire Department Clowns, and fire hats to help them remember fire safety. Students were able to hold a fire hose pretending to put out their own imaginary fires!

	100th Day of Kindergarten Edison Kindergarten students celebrated the 100th day of school with many activities. They included counting to 100, skip counting to 100, 10 of 10 different ingredients making 100 pieces of Trail Mix, small groups counting 100 plastic clips, dividing 100 Cheerios into 10 groups of 10, coloring a 100 Day flag, reading books about 100 days of school, collecting beans and rice to see if the Kindergarten classes could collect 100 pounds, collecting aluminum cans to recycle and collect money to buy a $100 commemorative brick for the new high school and making fruit loop necklaces by counting 100 Fruit Loops.

Giant Feathered Friend Pictured is a school wide turkey that was created by the effort of parents, students, and teachers. Each child was sent home with a turkey feather and asked to decorate the feather however they wished. Mrs. Linnell, fine arts teacher, then constructed the feather on the wall. This is one of the many decorations that are on display in the gym to help celebrate American Education Week.	Click HERE for larger picture.
